It is now the official end of the summer season and as the icy southerly gusts are stretching further and further up the coastline. Now we have a bit of time to reflect on the past few months and see what we have achieved over the summer period. You may be thinking of how fun summer was? All the partying that you did? Or those love handles that just didn’t budge? If you didn’t achieve the summer body that you desired, then maybe it’s time to put a real plan into place?

Have you ever heard the expression “summer bodies are earned in winter”…. Well it true! If you have the desire to really change your body for the better, then now is the time to start. A healthy body takes time to achieve and there are no quick fixes or short cuts. Start with a plan, sit down and map out what you need to achieve to feel good in your skin. It might be an old photo of you in your swimmers at the beach looking happy, it might be going a whole day without getting puffed out from walking up stairs. You need to decide what you want makes you happy, then aim on attaining it.

Once you have your goal, it’s time to get serious! If you are the lazy type and constantly makes excuses about going to the gym/park to exercise then you might need a little extra motivation. A Personal Trainer can really help out in this area by encouraging you to develop healthy fitness behaviours. A little exercise each day goes a long way especially over 365 days. Getting help at the start makes the journey a lot easier.

A weekly plan is a great way to keep on track. Start with a simple piece of paper and break it down into 7 days. List your obligations and what time/times you can exercise. Pin this schedule to a place where you will see it every day, and tick off the days that you achieve your scheduled workout. If you miss a day, you need to place a large red cross through it. This is a simple yet effective way to take not of all your active days. Remember it takes 21 days to develop a habit so keep on track and stay active.
